Warning: Spoilers ahead. Do not proceed if you have not watched Euphoria Season 3 Episode 3, “The Ballad of Paladin.”
In the third episode of Euphoria Season 3, Nas, played by Jack Topalian, blackmails and disrupts Cassie (Sidney Sweeney) and Nate’s (Jacob Elordi) wedding in front of all the guests.
However, filming the scene was similarly chaotic, with Topalian exclusively telling Page Six that the scene had been extended without his knowledge.
Topalin recalled that during rehearsals, he was doing his part and Jacob (Elordi) was answering…and I stopped him.
In an awkward moment, “Euphoria” creator and showrunner Sam Levinson asked Topalian where “the rest” of the scene was.
“I said, ‘Sam, this is all I have. This is all I prepared.’ I started to feel really bad! And suddenly Jacob turned around and said, ‘Hey, don’t worry, bro.’ They just threw it at us last night,” the Armenian actor elaborated.
Compared to the original version prepared by Topalian, the new scenes were expanded and included more dialogue.
However, he detailed that he was slightly distracted when he noticed Elordi’s Australian accent, calling it “one of the funniest things.”
Topalian said it was “generous” that Elordi pulled him aside and rehearsed the “long” wedding crash scene before filming.
During the scene, Naz, a gangster-like businessman, shows up uninvited to Nate and Cassie’s wedding to collect the $500,000 the former owes him.
He comes up behind Nate and tells him that he is “stupid” for having such a “lavish” ceremony when he owes Naz so much money.
Naz promises to be Nate’s “worst nightmare,” which is extremely frightening for Cassie, who had no idea her new husband was in debt.
Later that night, Naz brutally beats Nate, eventually cutting off his toe.
Despite their adversarial relationship on screen, Topalian said he “became close” with Elordi behind the scenes.
“Well, I haven’t met many actors, especially young actors, who are so dedicated,” he said of the 28-year-old “Frankenstein” star.
“I mean, he’s great. He’s very dedicated. He’s very well prepared and really dives in. He’s a very grounded, down-to-earth person, and I really enjoyed that.”
Other characters, like Lou (Zendaya), also attend Nate and Cassie’s wedding, but Topreian told Page Six, “I didn’t meet Zendaya.”
During a conversation with Page Six, the “Madam Secretary” actor claimed that she doesn’t know what other stories are being featured on the show because everything is “pretty hush-hush hush-hush.”
“I think she was filming before I got there,” he said of Zendaya.
“I’m a fan. I just watched the first episode and I’m going to watch it every Sunday because it comes out. So I don’t know what’s going on.”
He added, “I’m kind of drawn into the story and I want to go along with everyone for the ride.”
