Gold House establishes new production company Gold House Studio

Gold House, the cultural platform behind the Gold Open movement and The Gold Gala, is moving into production with the launch of Gold House Studios.

Since its founding eight years ago, Gold House has become one of the most influential forces in entertainment and culture. The company has campaigned for more than 800 movie openings, including “Crazy Rich Asians” and “Everything Everywhere All at Once.” Gold House Studios will focus on developing and producing original, IP-driven stories across film, television and digital media.

Gold House Studios will be led by Gold House veterans Christine Yi and Brian Nemes, with Yi leading the studio and Nemes leading IP and development. Both will serve as producers on all Gold House Studios projects.

“Too many great movies are made through some small miracle and then go unseen,” Yee said. Mr. Yee previously led operations at Gold House Ventures, Gold House’s technology VC fund, and currently serves as general manager of Gold House Labs, the foundation’s talent development program. “As an impact-driven company, one of our top priorities is to develop compelling stories that center Asia-Pacific talent and have rich, nuanced cultural contexts that feel novel or unexpected. But our overriding criteria for ‘impact’ is the ability to reach audiences and resonate far beyond our own communities.”

The film begins with “Akiya,” starring Karen Fukuhara (“The Boys”) and Robbie Amell (“Upload,” “Code 8”), about a couple who move to Japan to renovate an abandoned house in the countryside called “Akiya,” only to discover that the house is haunted by creatures from Japanese folklore called Yokai and a demonic woman named Yotsume Baba. The film is written and directed by Austin Osanai Everett and is produced in association with Ranger7 and Collective Pictures.

“This Way to Home,” also scheduled, is a road trip drama from writer/director Mel Maher.

On the TV side, the studio is developing “American Yokai,” an atmospheric horror from showrunner Keto Shimizu, who helmed “Legends of Tomorrow.”

Gold House Studios will also focus on IP-driven projects. In another partnership with Ranger 7, JEA and Striker Entertainment, Gold House has secured the film rights to Bokeh Game Studio’s cult Japanese game Slitterhead, created by Silent Hill creator Keiichiro Toyama. Goldhouse has hinted that more intellectual property-inspired projects are in the works, but details remain under wraps.

On the unscripted side, Goldhouse has a digital series scheduled to begin filming in New York City later this year.

Previous funding and productions include music videos for Sean Wang’s “Diddy,” Vera Miao’s “Rock Springs,” and Grammy Award winner Laufey’s “Madwoman.”

“Over the years, Gold House has proven that culture is not niche or decorative, but mainstream infrastructure.Gold House The studio reflects our belief that stories remain the most powerful force for building relationships. Even in an era where audiences are fragmented across platforms, algorithms, and identities, good storytelling has the power to draw strangers into the same conversation, the same emotions, and the same future.” said Bing Chen, CEO and co-founder of Gold House.
