Taylor Swift attended the Toy Story 5 premiere wearing an Erdem minidress, just days after releasing her movie song “I Knew It, I Knew You.” Fans noticed an Easter egg in her look: a horseshoe necklace. Taylor Swift first wore the piece in New York City, weeks before the Toy Story collaboration was announced.
Amid all the talk about her wedding to Travis Kelsey, Taylor Swift returned to the spotlight tonight to celebrate another milestone. It was the Toy Story 5 world premiere, just days after she released her song for the film, “I Knew It, I Knew You.”
Swift wore a doll-like Erdem mini dress with a floral print skirt at an event in Los Angeles.
Fans took note of the Easter egg Swift was wearing around her neck: a horseshoe-shaped necklace. This is the same one she wore when she donned the Toy Story colors in New York City in April. At this point, Swift had yet to announce a collaboration with the film, but she had already teased it.
The horseshoe pays homage to Cowgirl character Jessie, whose journey Swift wrote about in “I Knew It, I Knew You.”
When Swift released the song this Friday, she talked about what it was like to explore the iconic character’s perspective. “Writing this song felt like leaving music and coming home at the same time,” she wrote on Instagram. “Creating something for Jesse was a new challenge, but it quickly felt like second nature. And being a @toystory kid from age 5 to now is an adventure I plan on continuing indefinitely and beyond.”
The film’s director and screenwriter, Andrew Stanton, praised the singer’s work in a press release when the single was first announced. “I can’t believe how much it meant to have Taylor write and perform this song,” he said. “There’s no denying her connection to Jessie and her instant understanding of what that character was going through. This song has such a deep connection to Toy Story that, when you hear it for the first time, it immediately feels like it’s been there forever, like a lost family member. It was kismet.”
