Doug Wright has entered into a representation agreement with Anonymous Content.
A playwright, playwright and librettist, Wright most recently wrote Buried, directed by Maggie Betts and starring Jamie Foxx and Tommy Lee Jones. The courtroom drama premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival prior to its release on Prime Video.
He is currently co-writing a book with Will Powers for the Broadway revival of Damn Yankees, directed and choreographed by Sergio Trujillo and scheduled to premiere on Broadway in spring 2027.
Wright is also known for her play “I Am My Own Wife,” which won the 2004 Pulitzer Prize for Drama and the Tony Award for Best New Play. His latest work, “Good Night, Oscar,” premiered on Broadway after a run at the Goodman Theater in Chicago.
Early in his career, Wright won an Obie Award for his play “Quills,” which he later adapted into a film. The film was selected as Best Picture by the National Board of Review and received three Academy Award nominations. Wright’s screenplay was nominated for a Golden Globe Award and won the Paul Selvin Award from the Writers Guild of America.
His extensive theater work also includes Disney’s stage adaptation of The Little Mermaid, Gray Gardens, and the Drama Desk Award nominated Hands on a Hardbody.
Wright has contributed screenplay and rewriting work to major studio releases for Sony Pictures, 20th Century Fox, and the Weinstein Company. He also wrote the television special Tony Bennett: An American Classic for director Rob Marshall, for which he won seven Emmy Awards.
