A first look at Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom mask has been released courtesy of concept art posted by the Marvel Cinematic Universe icon.
Former Marvel visual director Andy Park appeared on X on July 11 to share illustrations for the upcoming blockbuster.
“Avengers: Doomsday – the last feature film I had the honor of leading as Director of Visual Development at Marvel Studios,” he wrote on the social media platform. “This illustration celebrates that journey and reveals the characters and their looks for the first time. #AvengersDoomsday.”
See the image below. This includes first looks at some of the X-Men who have not previously appeared in promotional materials, including Nightcrawler (Alan Cumming), Beast (Kelsey Grammer), and Mystique (Rebecca Romijn). At the heart of the art is also a mystical image of Loki (Tom Hiddleston).
In April, Park joined Disney’s layoffs and announced his departure from X, writing, “Visual Development at Marvel Studios: 2010-2026. The end of an era. I was there at the beginning of an unconventional team. Over 16 years, I worked on more than 40 films and led 15 as director of visual development. I couldn’t be more proud of the history we’ve built.”
Doomsday is shaping up to be Marvel’s biggest movie yet. The series stars Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Pedro Pascal, Paul Rudd, Anthony Mackie, Florence Pugh, Vanessa Kirby, Ebon Moss-Bachluck, Wyatt Russell, Channing Tatum, Simu Liu, Ian McKellen, James Marsden, and a host of other superheroes, as well as Patrick Stewart, Joseph Quinn, Sebastian Stan, David Harbour, Letitia Wright, and more.
