RaeLynn revealed this week that she has filed for divorce from husband Joshua Davis after more than 10 years.
“After much thought and prayer, I have made the difficult decision to file for divorce,” the 32-year-old country singer wrote on social media on Tuesday.
“As a working mother, I am dedicated to giving my daughter the love, stability, and support she needs as we navigate this next chapter together. We appreciate the love and encouragement of our family, friends, and fans, and respectfully request privacy as we move forward with grace and compassion.”
The couple have a 4-year-old daughter, Daisy Rae.
Speaking to Fox News in 2017, the singer called her husband’s military service “selfless.”
“I’m really proud of him,” she said at the time.
The two met at church in 2012, then reunited at a wedding, and got married in 2016.
Davis is a former financial advisor and Army veteran.
The “God Made Girls” singer has written several songs about her husband, including “Camo,” “Diamonds” and “Lonely Call.”
“I wrote ‘Diamonds’ after we got engaged, and the hook of the song is that a diamond is just a diamond unless you wear it on your right hand,” she told Fox News in 2017, shortly after Davis returned from basic training.
“This song is one of my favorite songs to sing because I want to honor my husband.”
She filed for divorce in Nashville on June 8, citing irreconcilable differences, according to People magazine.
RaeLynn has shared several photos of her daughter this summer, including one of her dancing to her duet with Rhett Akins, “We’re American Made.”
In the video, she and her daughter twinned in patriotic costumes and danced while her daughter clutched a Woody doll from Toy Story.
In the video, RaeLynn wore blue cowgirl boots with red stars on them, and Daisy Rae wore a red plaid jumper, red cowgirl boots, and an American flag ribbon in her hair.
In 2016, RaeLynn told Taste of Country that she wrote the song “Love Triangle” about her parents’ divorce.
“Everyone I’ve talked to who has gone through a divorce like I have, there’s a part of me that’s scared, but there’s also a part of me that doesn’t want to make the same mistakes again,” she told the magazine shortly after her wedding.
“I would never, ever want my child to go through that, because I saw how much it hurt my mother and how much it hurt my father.
“I have a completely different perspective on marriage. I feel like our generation looks at marriage like it’s disposable, but it’s not. Marriage is a promise. When I made that promise, I made it for life, and I’m going to keep it.”
