Chris Brown was ordered to pay his former housekeeper $13 million after she was brutally attacked by a 200-pound dog in 2020.
Maria Avila has won her lawsuit against a “Yo” medical examiner who accused her of negligence after a white shepherd ripped off “large chunks of skin” and disfigured her face at her home in Tarzana, California, Billboard reported Wednesday.
Avila, who was taking out the trash when he was attacked, also injured his arm and now has mobility problems.
In addition, Avila’s husband Oscar Olivo and sister Patricia were paid $50,000 and $885,000, respectively, because they were working at the time of the attack.
Brown, 37, gave evidence in court and described how he found Avila motionless and bleeding “a lot of blood” after he had been beaten, according to the BBC.
“I was a little freaked out when I saw the blood,” the “Run It!” host admitted to the jury, admitting that he followed his manager’s advice and left the scene before first responders arrived.
Brown claimed he wanted to avoid causing a media stir and having his voice heard on 911 calls.
According to the outlet, the hitmaker also claimed that Avila was partly to blame for the attack, as he was warned about the dog and told to only go out if escorted by security.
However, Avila denied this claim.
Additionally, Brown claimed she acquired the dog for safety due to a “stalker-like situation.”
Patricia’s attorney, Michael C. Murphy Jr., celebrated the victory, telling Billboard, “After more than five years of litigation against Chris Brown, we are thrilled to have been able to obtain justice for our client, Patricia.”
“We are so happy for her and her family after everything they went through on that horrific day,” the attorney added. “It was an honor to represent her.”
Representatives for Mr. Brown could not immediately be reached for comment to Page Six.
The R&B musician has been at the center of recent legal troubles, including his arrest in May 2025 for allegedly hitting music producer Abe Diaw in the head with a tequila bottle in 2023.
Mr. Diaw filed a lawsuit against Mr. Brown in 2023, alleging that Mr. Brown “suffered severe and permanent injuries.”
