With bigger news at the iberseries & Platino Industry in Madrid, the Munich-based beta film has secured the right to sell Secuoya Studios’ Under the Volcano and The Road to Arcadia.

Charged as a charming crime thriller, the six-hour series, Road to Arcadia, features a Canadian wrestling team coach who lives a fulfilling and quiet life with his son Bruno, whom he worships, and his wife (Michelle Renaud) living a fulfilling life with her partner Ireno (Paula Echevarría, Paula Echevarría), along with her secret mutual dark past.

The topline Mario Torres, often the humorous romantic action thriller, “Under the Volcano,” shows signs of activity by a dashing rescue pilot dispatched to Tenerife, Canary Island, as a volcano. There, Mario meets Dani (Maggie Sivintos, “Lock Up”), a volcanologist known for her research and fiery personality. When a volcano erupts, Mario and Dani must navigate the danger and their emotions to each other.

Directed by Jorge Saavedra (“Zorro”), Road to Arcadia is produced for Comcast-Paramount Join Venture, part of Televisaunivision, and Skyshowtime, Mexican SVOD operator Vix. “Arcadia” and “Volcano” also became a three-party agreement with two titles between Secuoya, William Levy Entertainment and Vix, announced at the LA screening in May 2024.

Both titles have the potential for large streaming services. The star of “Resident Evil: Final Chapter,” Levy was a huge hit on RCN TV Telenovela’s “The Scent of Passion” (“Cafe Con Aroma de Mujer”) and Netflix, while Secuoya Studios’ miniseries “Montecristo” became a huge hit on Vix and Spain’s Movistar Plus+. Beta Film is selling the third season of “El In Mortar – Gang of Madrid,” a Banijay DLO producer and Mobistal Plus+ production, where Season 1 World premiered at Canceries 2022.

In season three of the mob thriller, he climbed the epic Madrid Narco food chain of one man, with Jose Antonio setting up the most loyal gang members as the successor to his throne. However, as Snitch blows the mouth whit with future shipments, the ultimate life and death battle for Jose Antonio’s power continues. This series is produced by Movistar Plus+ in collaboration with DLO Produce.

The deal is the latest in the 15-year relationship between Beta Film and Spain, with Beta selling original versions of Bamboo Produce to Latin America without the need for dubs in “Grand Hotel”, “Velvet”, and “Neutral” Spanish, and a deal in the Side Stepping format.

This groundbreaking arrangement brought both the hottest proposals in the Latin American cable market, and also burned the submarines of SVOD operator Netflix.

Betafilm has released early titles for Movistar Plus+, including “The Pier,” a follow-up to “Money Heist” by Alex Pina and Esther Martinez Lobato and one of the fastest titles on Mipcom 2018.

Sales of Boffo led to Beta Film and Movistar Plus+ signing a multi-year production and distribution agreement announced at MIPTV in 2019. This was only ended when Movistar Plus+ launched its own sales operations, Movistar Plus+ Internacional, in March 2022.
