Fox has renewed “Best Medicine” for a second season.

The show is an American remake of the popular British series Dr. Martin, and the Fox version stars Josh Charles in the lead role. It is currently airing its first season, which debuted in January. The season finale will air on March 10th on FOX and streamed on Hulu the next day.

In addition to Charles, the cast also includes Abigail Spencer, Josh Segarra, Annie Potts, and Cree.

“‘Best Medicine’ is an instant breakout piece for us this season, combining sharp humor with true heart,” said Michael Thorne, president of Fox Television Networks. “Liz Tussillo brings a unique creative voice to this series, and Josh Charles leads an exceptional cast that audiences have embraced. We’re excited to build on that momentum with Propogate in Season 2.”

Liz Tuccillo is the executive producer and showrunner of “Best Medicine.” Ben Silverman, Rodney Ferrell, Howard T. Owens, Mark Cloudy and Philippa Braithwaite will serve as executive producers. The series is produced by Fox Entertainment Studios. The show is based on the All3Media International format “Doc Martin,” originally produced in the UK by Buffalo Pictures in association with Home Run Film Productions. Brought to the US by Propagate Content.

The show’s official logline reads, “Dr. Martin Best (Charles), a brilliant surgeon, abruptly abandons his successful career in Boston to become a general practitioner in a quaint East Coast fishing village. As a child, he spends his summers there with his aunt Sarah (Potts). There he meets a diverse group of townspeople, including schoolteacher Louisa Gavin (Spencer), sheriff Mark Mailloux (Segarra), and his assistant Elaine.” Denton (Cree). ”

The series premiere of “Best Medicine” reached a total of 12.6 million viewers across multiple platforms, according to Fox. The series debuted after Fox’s Sunday NFL coverage and moved to its regular Tuesday time slot starting Jan. 13.
