Benedict Cumberbatch and Claire Foy return to the world of Judith Kerr’s picture book The Mog in Channel 4’s animated special The Bad Things About Mog.
Cumberbatch will reprise his role opposite Foy as Mrs. Thomas, while Bridgerton star Adjoa Andoh will also return as narrator, along with Amelie Law as Debbie and Teddy Skelton as Nicky.
The cast, who previously co-starred in Channel 4’s animated special Mog’s Christmas, will now be joined by John Thomson (Blake Claus) as Mr Vance, Katherine Parkinson (Rivals) as Mrs Ramsbottom, Mawan Rizwan (Juice) as Ali and Amelia Theodore as Amy.
Directed by Robin Shaw (“The Tiger Who Came to Tea”) and produced by Lupus Films (“Kensuke’s Kingdom,” “The Snowman and the Snowdog”), “Mog’s Bad Things” once again follows the Thomas family’s tabby cat, Mog, who finds himself in a big pinch.
“The family is hosting a cat show in their garden, and it’s supposed to be Mog’s chance to shine, but in his excitement, he does something “bad.” Feeling sorry for himself, Mog hides in the attic and misses the start of the show in time,” the synopsis reads. “Can Mogu come out of hiding, make his family proud, and find a way to save the day?”
“Mog’s Bad Thing” was written by Joanna Harrison, based on Carr’s book, which has been translated into 24 languages and sold more than 4 million copies worldwide. There are 17 books in the “Mog” series, which was inspired by Carr’s cat.
Ruth Fielding and Camilla Deakin are producing Lupus Film. The animated special was created for Channel 4 by Interim Head of Drama Gwar Lloyd.
Serious Kids will distribute ‘Mog’ for theaters and television worldwide outside the UK. Theatrical distribution will be announced soon.
