Eric Dane missed the “Glaze Anatomy” tribute planned at the 2025 Emmy Awards after revealing his amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) diagnosis earlier this year.
Dane was to appear on stage with former co-star Jesse Williams for a segment celebrating Shonda Rhymes’ long-standing medical show over the past 20 years.
However, Williams awarded the Best Director for a Drama Series Solo, but did not mention Dane or the ABC series.
On the red carpet early in the evening, Williams told Entertainment Tonight that he was looking forward to the tribute. “It’s been a really great time, especially working with (Eric), but the show continues to have a very remarkable, emotional and intellectual impact on people all over the world.”
He then called Dane “my man” and said, “He’s solid. The man is just solid, we have to be careful, as you know, as you know, as you know, you take care of yourself, and he has the perfect balance.”
Dane’s representative did not immediately respond to Page Six’s request for comment.
Dane, 52, announced that he had been diagnosed with ALS in April, just weeks after he halted his divorce from his wife, Rebecca Gayhart.
ALS is a “neurological disease that affects neurons in the brain and spinal cord,” leading to a “loss of muscle control,” and according to Mayo Clinic, progresses.
There is no cure for the disease.
In an interview with Diane Sawyer on “Good Morning America” in June, Dane shared the heartbreaking progression of his illness.
“I have one functional arm. My dominant side, my left side, is working,” he said. “My right side is completely stopped working.”
The actor said he only had “a few more months” before his left arm and hand came out. He was also worried about losing his foot function.
“It’s calm,” he admitted.
Still, the “Euphoria” star remained optimistic about his fate.
“I don’t think this is the end of the story,” he said in tears. “I don’t feel this way in my mind. I’m fighting as much as I can.”
Dane began filming for season 3 of “Euphoria” just four days after revealing his diagnosis. He will reprise his role as Cal Jacobs, the twisted patriarch of hidden sexual addiction, in the hit HBO series.
ALS hasn’t stopped his love life either. He went out with his girlfriend, filmmaker Janelle Shirtcliffe, at the “Countdown” premiere in Los Angeles in June.
The two showed their PDA and were not shy, clutching their hands on the red carpet.
Dane and Gayheart, 54, are still in great condition. Dane told Sawyer in an interview that he was constantly in contact with the “Joebreaker” star.
“I call Rebecca. I talk to her every day,” Dane said choking. “We managed to become better friends and better parents. She is probably my biggest champion and the most stubborn supporter, and I’m leaning on her.”
