“Pit” fans can be pleased right away. Mel and Langdon’s reunion will surprise everyone at Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Hospital in Season 2.
“For Mel, he’s the person she meets in her first shift and I think she really has something to do with him,” Taylor Dearden, who plays Mel in the HBO Max drama, told Variety at the Nominations Celebration of the Warner Bros. Television Group’s 77th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards. “She’s only known Langdon for a day, but he had a big impact on her and then he’s gone. In season 2, he’s back 10 months later.
Season 2 begins 10 months later and is scheduled to take place on the weekend of July 4th, after Langdon is kicked out of the hospital by Dr. Robbie (Noah Weill) after it is revealed that Langdon had been stealing medical drugs throughout Season 1. Throughout season one, Mel and Langdon form bonds throughout the long day, often revealing their inner thoughts and struggles before they mysteriously disappear towards the end of Mel’s shift.
“Langdon really helps Mel through her first shift. Even after he leaves hospital, she still doesn’t know what happened to him,” revealed Patrick Ball, who plays Langdon. “In season 1, Mel needs Langdon to get through her shift, but Langdon may need her more than you think in season 2.”
Season 2 of “Pit” will introduce new nurses and patients to work with Dr. Robbie and the rest of the hospital. Actress Supriya Ganesh teased the pivotal plot points that take place throughout the weekend shifts. “There’s a scene in Season 2 where you get the baby involving you without saying too much. You can film it with the baby for 20 minutes, and it’s so incredibly confusing.”
