Erin and Ben Napier’s birthday party may look a little different.
The HGTV star spoke today for a new interview and shared that when it comes to children’s birthday parties, he is following one rule that may not be popular with some. Erin and Ben are the parents of a seven-year-old daughter Helen and four May.
“Our rule is dinner with grandparents until they’re old enough to plan it for themselves,” Ben shares.
“If your fourth birthday party looks like a wedding, what should they look forward to?” asks Erin. “This is probably an unpopular opinion, but I think there are a lot of people who feel the same way as me.”

In January, Erin shared a sweet post on Instagram after her daughter May dropped off her sister Helen at school and realised she was quiet all morning. The host of the home town of Takeover asked her daughter what she would do during the day as her sister was back at school.
“Mae was quiet after dropping Helen down at school this morning after a week of holiday and weather days,” Erin wrote in the caption of an Instagram post featuring her daughter lying under the cover as she reads a book.
“@scotsman.co asked her, “What are you going to do today, as Sissy is back in school?” she said, “…. My day will be small without Helen.” 💔I felt that. ”
Last September, Erin shared that her eldest daughter Helen had already followed in the footsteps of the design.
The video shared to Erin’s account features an inspirational photo of her house representing her daughter’s vision – the designer reveals that Helen is brainstorming a “little cottage of wood with brick chimneys” and plans to build it into the field by the family’s weekend country house pond.
She explained that the images and details are “instructed to me at bedtime and depicted in Pinterest images that I can find.” * “According to Helen, Erin explained, “It smells like smores in the house, and we play mainly Christmas music, but sometimes we play music that resonates.”
“I don’t want to visit places that are so badly unseen,” the two’s mothers concluded her caption.
