Spain’s Filmax seized international rights to “every aspect of the bed,” the third installment of the hit musical comedy franchise, first kicked off in 2002.
“All Sides of the Bed” packing the production partner punch will be produced by TeleCinema, weekend studios, Impala, Lightbox animation studios, and Todd Ros Lados de La Cayer, and will be joined by Media Set Espanya, Netflix and Mediterraneo Media Set Espa Esca Group.
The original, entitled “The opposite side of the bed” (“El Otrora do de la Cama”), became the best gloss photo of the year, lighting up Spanish box office revenue.
Director Emilio Martinez Lazarus and writer David Serrano replayed their roles in a sequel in 2005 in The Bed, The Bed of the Bed, with Ernesto Alterio, Maria Esteve and Alberto San Juan replaying their roles in a sequel. Variety praised “a vibrant mix of bubble pop and romantic conflict,” declared its “more substantial script and more mature air… a slightly darker, richer experience.”
Both captivated a captivating audience with their inventive spins in musical comedies. It features dynamic choreography and songs drawn from the biggest hits of Spanish and Latin pop music.
The new installment 20 years later will be the directorial feature debut of Samantha Lopez Speranza (TV series The Favorese 1922) from a script written by Carlos Del Joyo and Eileen Bojoyo.
“All aspects of the bed” follows ex-lovers Javier and Carlota, who are furious to find out that their children, Óscar and Julia, are due to marry after decades apart. Alterio and Pilar Castro return to this iteration, joining a young cast led by Jan Buxaderas (“Sussicious Minds”), Lucía Caraballo (“You Keep The Kids!”), Sergio Abelaira (The Widow Game”), and Leire Aguiar (through “My Window”).
The photo also features special appearances by beloved actors Maria Esteve, Alberto San Juan, Guillermo Toledo, Second de La Rosa and Natalia Verbeque, who appeared in the original films of the franchise.
The film is produced by Alvaro Augustine (Pan’s Labyrinth), Gislain Barrois (Spanish Events), Thomas Simadevira (The Other Side of Bed) and Eduardo Sern de Vicña.
