The Tiff Audience is preparing to terrify a new generation of horror filmmakers as they will premiere the world at a festival. Jordan Peel’s first class of Monkeypaw Productions and Tiff’s “No Drama” initiative will debut the horror short film at a special showcase Saturday night.

Five films, “Imago,” “Morty,” “Spilled Milk,” “Thick Skin,” and “Under The Pigs,” were produced as part of a one-year, non-exclusive program launched last fall by Monkeypaw, Tiff and Universal Filmad Entertainment Group, creating concepts or short films that are terrifying across cultures, times, environments, environments, environments, and society.

I asked the artist “There is no drama” to reflect on this question. The five selected screenwriters, Chandler Crump, Charlie Dennis, Helena Hawks, Jared Leaf and Ariel Zengotita, each receive a $50,000 grant from TIFF and will make their debut on the TIFF Lightbox on Saturday at 6:30pm.

“In the past year, we have been able to see the first five ‘drama’ filmmakers bring the story to life. We couldn’t be excited to present these films at TIFF and see where we’re going next.” Following the showcase, the filmmakers will be taking part in a Q&A moderated by Jacqueline Coley of Rotten Tomatoes.

“His team at Jordan and Monkeypoe have redefine filmmaking for the genre by challenging conventions and pushing boundaries,” says Peter Cramer, president of Universal Photography. “Their ‘no drama’ initiative is a partnership with TIFF, a launchpad for many incredible filmmakers over the years, and is excited to join Jordan, Monkey Paw, TIFF, and join TIFF, taking on the behalf of the Universal Film Editorial Group with five talented new voices to showcase their groundbreaking work.

Showcase tickets are currently available. Check out the eerie super cut trailer for the short film. Scott Mescudy, Brandon Perea, J. Alphonse Nicholson and Kiera Monterosomezia are among the stars.

Through the production of five short films, Monkeypaw has partnered with industry-leading companies providing physical support throughout the film production process. Partners who participated in all five films include Mathematic Film (VFX), Company 3 (Audio and Color Finishing), Signature Post (Sound Design), and Format (music director, library use, license). Panavision offered camera packages for “Morty”, “Spilled Milk”, “Thick Skin” and “Low Pig”. Sony provided “spilled milk” with Sony Mini Rialto, making the short a second projection to use the camera following “F1.” Cooke Optics provided the “Imago” lens. The MBS Equipment Company provided lighting and grip equipment for “Morty”, “Spilled Milk”, “Thick Skin” and “Imave”.
