Ridley Scott has revealed that he has stepped into the world of “The Terminator” after directing iconic films such as “Alien,” “The Blade Runner,” and “The Gladiator.”

The prolific filmmaker told the Guardian that he turned down $20 million to direct “Terminator 3: The Rise of the Machine” in 2003.

“I’m proud of this,” Scott told the Guardian. “I rejected the $20 million fee. I thought, ‘I’d give it a try.’ I said: “I want what Ernie gets.” When they said “Yes,” I thought “Fuck me.” But I couldn’t do that. ”

Scott explained that the reason he couldn’t sign on for the “The Terminator” sequel is the same reason he didn’t direct the James Bond movie.

“That’s not about me,” he said. “It’s like making a Bond movie. The essence of Bond movies is fun and camping. “Terminator” is pure comic strip. I’m trying to make it a reality. So they never asked me to do a Bond movie. ”

Jonathan Motow will be directing Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines. It won $433 million at the global box office, but did not reach the key heights of the first two entries led by James Cameron. The 2009 “The Terminator Salvation,” followed by the 2015 reboot, “The Terminator Genisys,” and the 2019 “The Terminator: Dark Furt.”

Elsewhere in the Guardian interview, Scott teased that he was working on his third “Gladiator” film after last year’s hit “Gladiator II,” starring Paul Mezcal, Pedro Pascal and Denzel Washington. Scott also said he was open to another “alien” movie.

“The ‘Gladiator’ is ongoing,” the director said. “Another ‘alien’ first part – yeah, if I got an idea, certainly. ”
