A limited series about Karen Reed’s trial on her boyfriend’s murder will feature Prime Video Elizabeth Banks in the series, reports that Justin Noble and David E. Kelly were acquitted in June three years after Boston police officer John O’Keefe was found dead outside a friend’s house.

Karen Reed’s fascinating story comes to a small screen.

Prime Video saw the first read of two-degree murder charges in the death of her boyfriend John O’Keefe in 2022, but she was guilty of murder after the second trial after the first misunderstanding by the ry trial, where she was eventually stuck.

Elizabeth Banks will take on the complicated storyline of Read in the Limited series, Deadline reported.

College alumni Sex Life Justin Noble, along with David E. Kelly, will reportedly showcase executive production.

The series explores how the reading became a name after the death of his 46-year-old boyfriend.

By deadline, the series is based on the Law and Crime and the Funderly Podcast, Karen.

Red’s infamy began after Boston police officer O’Keefe was found to not respond in the snow early on January 29, 2022, outside a gathering at another police officer’s home. She repeatedly pleaded not guilty.

Karen read it on April 28, 2025 at Norfolk Superior Court before Judge Beverly J. Canon.

Reading was acquitted this June, and she told her supporters outside the courtroom after the verdict: “I wouldn’t be standing here without these amazing supporters who supported me and my team financially and more importantly emotionally.”

“No one fought hard for justice for John O’Keefe, and my team,” she said.

She was not guilty of second-degree murder, the most serious charges, manslaughter while operating under the influence, but leaving the scene of an accident that led to involuntary manslaughter, motor vehicle murder and death was a crime of operating under the influence.

Karen Read will appear from Norfolk Superior Court on June 18, 2025, with the defense team after the ju-degree verdict was announced.

The limited series comes after Banks appeared in the recent hit Prime video series, The Better Sister

Banks and Jessica Biel, 51, played the marginalized sisters in the series that premiered on Streamer in May, adapted from Arafaa Burke’s 2019 novel of the same name.

The Better Sisters also explored the famous murders, but also the fictional murders in which Beale and Banks’ on-screen son, teenager, was falsely accused of killing their father (Corry Stoll).
