Christina Applegate has openly revealed that her multiple sclerosis fight has “broken” her 14-year-old daughter, Sadie.
“I want to see her watching me when I’m in bed and can’t move at all, or tell her good night in her room, but I can’t get to completely get down the hallway because my feet aren’t working that day,” she said on an episode of Tuesday’s “mushy” podcast.
“Now I barely get to the bathroom, that’s the worst, but it’s not here or there,” Applegate continued, adding, “It broke her.”
“Married…with children” alum reflected her life before the 2021 diagnosis, and the daughter said she knew her as “” as “health, runner, perotner and dancer.”
“So when this was 2021, she seemed stoic about it,” Applegate continued.
“She didn’t know this. It was like she lost the mom she had on this F-King. And the more she took this year, the more I think it hurts her.”
The 53-year-old Applegate pointed out that it was a dramatic transition for both herself and her teenagers. She also explained that families are experiencing the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic around the same time.
“We just went through Covid, through school and all of these things. Now, mom can’t do everything she can and I can’t see it in her eyes. I see it,” she admitted.
Still, the actress expressed her gratitude for keeping her daughter by her side throughout the difficult times.
“But do you know what’s really beautiful? When we’re out, she knows I’m struggling so much because she has that kind of anxiety about going out. And she’s always got my arms,” Applegate said.
“She’s always trying to help me, help me with my wand and everything. At home, she says, “Make my food because you’re the only person you can make it?”
Since sharing the diagnosis in August 2021, the “Dead to Me” actress has been open about her health journey and has given her fans the latest updates on a shared podcast with Jamie-Lynn Sigler.
Earlier this month, Applegate revealed that she was recently hospitalized and “screamed” with “sounds of pain.”
She told listeners on an August 5 episode of a podcast recorded from a hospital bed in Los Angeles that she had both kidneys.
