The National Association of Latinos Independent Producers (NALIP) and New Philman Cars Los Angeles (NFMLA) have announced the fourth installment of Starz #TaketheLead Writers’ Intensive.
The program is designed to advocate for emerging television writers from underrepresented communities. Submissions will open on August 26th and will have a deadline for submitting the set on September 18th. Intensively equips participants with immersive industry insights, creative development tools, and direct guidance from key showrunners, executives and writers. The program focuses on supporting authentic, comprehensive storytelling and encouraging writers to help writers refine their voices and shape the more representative future of television.
Finalists will be offered a Stage 32 scholarship, with unlimited access to over 3,000 hours of training to help Stage 32 educators improve their careers.
“The focus on Starz #TaketheLead Writers was an incredible opportunity to better understand the rapidly evolving industry,” said Justin Omori, a participant in Season 3 of the program. “I loved the intensive, unique format, which allowed me to work closely with both active authors and executive mentors, and at the same time create spec scripts for the current Starz series.
Selected participants receive practical mentorship from experienced industry experts to create treatments and pitches for the episode, and present the pitch to Starz Creative Executive at the end of the three-week program.
“I was thoroughly impressed with the caliber of industry leaders. The intensive thing at Starz#TaketheLead Writers provided me with the access and candid nature of the conversation.” “Their generous and invaluable advice provided me with the tools I needed to successfully transition from Showrunner’s assistant to staff writer.”
