Pearl Studio’s fantasy feature animation “Wish Comes True!” ‘ topped the box office in mainland China over the weekend of July 24-26, grossing RMB 314.8 million (approximately $46.3 million) in its second weekend of release.
The film, directed by Mu Zhengyang, has grossed $112.5 million. This family-friendly mythological comedy centers on eight ordinary humans who use a combination of wit and courage to outwit terrifying gods and earn themselves the legendary status of eight immortals.
Shenzhen Film Studio’s sports comedy “Kung Fu Soccer” rose to second place in its third weekend with an additional $33.9 million. The hit directed by Stephen Chow has grossed $286.6 million. The film depicts an amateur women’s team that integrates high-flying martial arts into professional soccer to compete for a major championship.
Damai Entertainment’s sci-fi blockbuster The Decisive Moment debuted in third place, earning $6.4 million over the weekend. To date, $8.6 million has been spent on the film, including early screenings since its July 25 release. The high-concept project, directed by Zhang Disha from a co-script with Fu Xiaoxi and produced by industry veteran Fan Zhenxing, was previously the closing film at the Shanghai International Film Festival. Spanning dual timelines, the story stars Fan Bo, Gao Ye, and Sun Yan as a trio of 2,035 Chinese astronauts lost in space during their return mission. Their only lifeline is a mysterious coded signal that links them back to a 1970 aerospace researcher played by Wu Lei.
Universal’s “Obsession” opened in fourth place with $4.9 million in its opening weekend.
Enright Pictures’ coming-of-age drama “A Part of Me” earned $2.7 million in its second week of release, breaking into the top five. The contemporary film, directed by Ma Yingxing and starring Zhang Ruonan and Jolin Jing, traces the emotional journey of a 20-year friendship and has grossed $21.6 million.
Overall weekend box office revenue in mainland China reached $102.3 million, but year-to-date revenue in 2026 was $3.15 billion, a 33.6% decrease compared to the same period in 2025.
