Kacey Musgraves gave no explanation for canceling three dates on her “Middle of Nowhere” tour, including opening night, just weeks before the tour was due to begin.
According to the Daily Mail, the Grammy Award-winning musician quietly canceled three shows – opening day in Chicago on August 20th, Boston on August 29th, and Brooklyn show on September 2nd – and fans only received an email from Ticketmaster informing them of the cancellation.
According to the station, no explanation was given regarding the canceled performances.
Representatives for the country star did not immediately respond to Page Six’s request for comment on Saturday.
The North American leg of her “Middle of Nowhere” tour was scheduled to begin next month in Chicago, hit 25 cities, and end in Seattle in late October.
They will perform in Australia in January 2027, before heading to England and Scotland in February.
Musgraves, 37, released her sixth studio album, Middle of Nowhere, on May 1st.
“The majority of this record was made during the longest period of my life when I was single,” the singer previously said in a statement.
“And I realized for the first time that it actually felt incredibly good to exist alone in a space that wasn’t defined by anyone else. I was fascinated by the idea of liminal space, both geographically and emotionally.”
“We stay in this transitional, empty space for too long and don’t rush to define our next place or thing. I’ve become very comfortable being in ‘limbo’ in many ways, sitting in undefined and uncomfortable spaces. Horses, humor, early days I had a lot of time to write again with my collaborators, live a very simple and inspired life between Texas and Tennessee, and to roam creatively in different ways and lean into myself.” ”
Musgraves is the latest artist to cancel concerts. Earlier this week, Harry Styles canceled a concert at Estadio Morumbis in Sao Paulo, Brazil, citing “health issues”, a month after collapsing on stage in England.
Hours before the concert began on Tuesday, Live Nation Brazil wrote to X: “We regret to inform you that the Harry Styles show scheduled for Tuesday, July 21, 2026 in Mormubis has been canceled due to health issues during the tour.”
The company reassured fans that tickets would be refunded.
Then, in May, the Pussycat Dolls canceled their North American reunion tour dates due to rumors of poor ticket sales.
Post Malone and Meghan Trainor have also canceled tour dates this year, blamed on a phenomenon called “Blue Dot Fever.” Blue dot fever refers to the blue dots on Ticketmaster’s seating chart that indicate empty seats, and is a euphemism for sluggish ticket sales.
