British actress Annabelle Scoley, who recently starred in the Disney+ hit Rivals, has joined the cast of Netflix’s new thriller series The Lords’ Day, currently in production in the UK.
Variety understands that Scholey, also known for his role in the BBC series The Split, will play a key role in the six-part series, which is based on Michael Dobbs’ 2007 novel of the same name and is led by F1 star Damson Idris.
Additional cast members include Harry Lorty (Industry, Joker: Folie à Deux), Alsema Thomas (Queen Charlotte, How She Taught Me Love), Starring Sophie Whelan (Alma, Ludwig), Gemma Whelan (Game of Thrones, Killing Eve) and Timothy Spall (The Six). “Commandments”, “Goodbye June”).
The official description for the series reads: “On the opening day of Parliament, British spy Harry Jones (Idris) finds himself inside an iconic building under lockdown. As the siege intensifies, loyalties are tested and selfless sacrifices are made, leading to a desperate fight for survival in which not everyone makes it home alive. Can Harry use his skills and training to become the country’s savior?”
‘The Lords’ Day’ is produced by Bad Wolf, the same production company behind ‘Industry’, ‘His Dark Materials’ and ‘The Other Bennett Sister’, and who most recently co-produced the last two seasons of ‘Doctor Who’. In addition to starring, Idris is also an executive producer, along with Bad Wolf’s Jane Tranter, Dan McCulloch, lead writers Sam Vincent and Jonathan Blackley, and director Ben Chanan.
Scholey’s other credits include starring roles in Channel 4’s hit drama The Couple Next Door and the Welsh romantic comedy musical film Chuck Chuck Baby, directed by Janice Pugh, which won a BAFTA for Best Feature/TV Film. In 2023, she co-starred with her The Lord’s Day co-star Spall in the BBC’s critically acclaimed full-on crime drama The Sixth Commandment, which won a BAFTA for Best Limited Drama.
