Suncatcher Productions has acquired theatrical distribution rights to Tessa Blake’s family drama “If I Tell You.”
Based on the novel Closed Doors by Lisa O’Donnell, the film follows a 12-year-old boy as he attempts to solve mysteries while navigating the influence of secrets hidden by adults.
Set to hit theaters in August, the film stars Carol Kane (Annie Hall), Etienne Kelisi (Ready or Not), Alison Miller (13 Reasons Why), Bill Heck (What’s Left Behind), Christopher Jackson (Hamilton), and Carmela Zumbado (YOU). The ensemble cast is rounded out by Kennedy Butler, Mackenzie Hayes, Tiegen Freiberger, and Zelalem Oestreich.
“In making ‘If I Tell You,’ I wanted to bring to the screen the beauty, suspense, and emotional depth of Lisa O’Donnell’s novel ‘The Closed Door.’ “Through the eyes of a young boy on the precipice of crisis, the film explores the fragile space between certainty and mystery, inviting us to confront a complex truth: that while our bonds endure, justice is an illusion,” Blake said in a statement.
The film, previously titled “Boundary Waters,” marks Blake’s feature directorial debut and was adapted for release by Jennifer Manocherian and Blake. Produced by Erin Mae Miller of Ignite Studio and Manocherian of Dog Lives Productions.
“When I first read Lisa O’Donnell’s wonderful novel Closed Doors, I immediately envisioned it as a movie.
