The official cause of death for Josh Grisetti, who tragically committed suicide on July 10th at the age of 44, has been revealed.
Grisetti died from gunshot wounds, the Orange County, California, Sheriff’s Office coroner told Page Six on Thursday.
The autopsy report listed multiple bilateral calvarial fractures and brain damage as related injuries.
The “Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” actor’s friend and fellow Broadway star Rob McClure announced his death over the weekend.
“It is with a broken heart that we announce that the genius Josh Grisetti took his own life on Friday,” McClure wrote on Instagram, along with a carousel of images of the two together.
“I’m not even ready to try to understand. My heart goes out to his wife and family who are trying to deal with this reality.”
McClure concluded: “The community around the world will never be the same without him. Josh, we love you. What a truly extraordinary loss.”
Several stars, including Ariana DeBose and Rachel Zegler, expressed their condolences in the comments section.
Just two days before his death, Grisetti left the production of Legally Blonde: The Musical due to “personal reasons.”
In his last Instagram post, he revealed that he was leaving the director’s role on the show’s opening night and that he was “heartbroken.”
Grisetti rose to fame in 2015 when he made his Broadway debut as Marty Kaufman in “It Shoulda Been You.”
The following year, he solidified his Broadway career with the role of Nigel Bottom in the hit musical Something Rotten!
And in 2023, he landed a recurring role as Ralph Emerson on the final season of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.
Josh is survived by his wife, Mackenzie Grisetti, a real estate agent whom he married in February 2020.
