Vox Media Studios (VMS) has signed a multi-year first-look deal with 20th Television, Variety exclusively reports.

Under the agreement, VMS and 20th TV will work together to produce scripted and unscripted television series across all platforms, with a focus on developing programming based on long-form reporting on Vox Media properties, including New York Magazine and Vox Media podcasts for Disney Entertainment Television platforms.

Dana J. Olkkonen heads VMS and Scoop Wasserstein heads Scoop Productions, overseeing script development and production for New York Magazine on behalf of VMS.

“We’re very excited to delve into New York Magazine’s fearless reporting and the treasure trove of stories from across Vox Media Studios’ portfolio,” said Carrie Burke, president of 20th TV. “Through compelling long-form storytelling that captures fascinating subject matter, revelations, modern life and pop culture, the opportunities are truly endless. Scoop and Dana’s exceptional sensibilities and deep experience bringing reporting to life on screen make them the perfect producing partners.”

VMS currently has multiple series in production. Among them is Netflix’s “The Altruists,” starring Anthony Boyle and Julia Garner, which was inspired by New York Magazine’s coverage of the rise and fall of FTX. Netflix is also developing a drama starring Lizzy Caplan as a crisis PR expert, also based on a New York Magazine article.

Variety exclusively reported in February that the company was close to signing a limited series for Apple TV starring Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Cecily Strong and based on the New York Magazine article “The Nanny Squater.”

Previous titles include unscripted shows such as Apple TV’s “Monster Factory,” HBO’s documentary series “An Update on Our Family,” and Hulu’s reality competition series “Best in Dough.”

“We are excited to work with 20th Television and Hulu/ABC to produce work that showcases the ambition and breadth of Vox Media’s award-winning journalism,” said Olkonen. “This partnership is a meaningful milestone for Vox Media Studios, confirming that our work continues to resonate with passionate audiences and highlighting the value of trusted media brands as engines of premium television.”

VMS is represented by CAA and Del Shaw Moonves.
