Anne Hathaway and husband Adam Shulman were “shocked” by her “buzzer-beater” pregnancy.
The actress, 43, clarified to Late Night with Seth Meyers viewers on Monday that she and the jewelry designer, 45, “knew what[they]were doing” when they were pregnant with their third child.
“We were so shocked that it worked out,” the “Odyssey” star said. “We knew…but we were shocked that this happened.”
When Hathaway joked that her mid-year child was a “buzzer beater,” Seth Meyers chimed in, “That’s amazing! You made it as soon as the buzzer went off.”
The host, who has become a father three times, went on to give advice to Hathaway’s older children, saying that because parenting “goes from just being scared to[watching]TV shows that you binge,” there’s “not much you can do other than watch.”
Hathaway responded, “That’s great, because I love this channel right now, so much more than that. Oh, wow, new cast members.”
Last month, news broke that Hathaway and Schulman were adding to their family when the Emmy winner showed off her butt while vacationing in St. Tropez.
The Golden Globe winner then posted on Instagram, “Baby, I’m yours.”
Hathaway hid her pregnancy during June’s The Devil Wears Prada 2 press tour, but flaunted it while promoting her latest project.
Most recently, Hathaway appeared on Meyers’ talk show in an all-white ensemble, and the host said she was “radiant.”
Hathaway and Shulman, who married in 2012, are already parents to sons Jonathan, 10, and Jack, 6.
In 2019, the Oscar winner opened up about her infertility treatments, calling it a “really painful, very lonely” experience and “full of self-doubt.”
For her, having a child was “more complicated” than “waving a magic wand,” she told The Associated Press at the time.
“When you’re pregnant, for the most part, it’s a really happy time,” Hathaway said. “But for many people who are trying to get pregnant, that’s not the real story. Or that’s part of the story.”
She and Shulman have been dating since 2008.
