Due to their busy schedules, it is likely that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s children will not be able to reunite with Prince William and Duchess Kate’s children during the Sussexes’ upcoming visit to the UK.
Royal commentator Amanda Matta told Page Six that there is “no indication” that Prince Archie, 7, and Princess Lilibet, 5, will meet Prince George, 12, Princess Charlotte, 11, and Prince Louis, 8.
“Even if relations are gradually improving, the Welsh family will likely have a well-planned schedule for the summer, and any reunion involving the cousins will require a great deal of planning and goodwill from everyone involved,” Matta explained.
The Off With Their Heads podcast host explained that tensions between the brothers and their wives could be the “biggest hurdle” the cousins have to overcome if they are to be reunited.
“Especially if Duchess Kate is involved in a potential scheme,” Matta added.
Royal correspondent Emily Nash told Page Six that it’s “too early to say” whether the cousins will get together, but she doesn’t expect a reunion during this visit.
“So you never know. If it was part of a broader family gathering, they could have been in the same place at the same time,” Nash said. “But, as you know, given that William and Harry’s relationship is so rocky, it doesn’t seem like they’ll be in any rush to spend time together just because Harry is back in the UK.”
When asked if the feuding princes wanted their children to know who their cousins were, Nash replied, “I think that’s an issue in the future.”
“Basically, I think there are two brothers here and they don’t talk to each other,” she explained. “It’s an important relationship that needs to be resolved first and foremost.
It can happen. ”
But Nash believes that at the root of William and Harry’s family relationship is their desire for their children to ultimately form a bond.
“Every family wishes cousins had the opportunity to spend time together and grow together, and I’m sure they feel the same way,” Nash says.
Matta and Nash agree that the chances of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex reuniting with the Prince and Princess of Wales, with or without children, are slim.
Mr. Nash is also the editor of Hello! Magazine said that their father, King Charles III, probably has no intention of getting involved in the feud as he continues to reconcile with Prince Harry.
“I think he’s probably just focused on spending time with his son, who he hasn’t seen in a long time,” Nash said of Charles, adding, “Especially potentially seeing his grandchildren…I’m sure that’s probably his No. 1 focus right now.”
Page Six confirmed last week that Prince Harry and the Suits alum are planning to take their children to the UK next month for the first time since 2022. Archie and Lilibet will be reunited with Charles III.
Another source claimed that Prince Charles extended an olive branch to Prince Harry and Markle by inviting them to stay at the royal residence during their visit, the US Sun reported. Charles is also said to have offered to take care of their safety arrangements.
Markle and her children have only visited Prince Harry’s home country a few times since the couple quit royal duties in 2020 and moved to California, with Britain revoking Harry’s family’s security privileges.
Archie and Lilibet last visited the UK with their parents in June 2022 for Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations.
Markle has not returned to the UK since accompanying Prince Harry to the late Queen’s funeral on September 19, 2022.
At the time of the funeral, feuds were already brewing between Prince Harry and Markle, and Prince William and Middleton.
Tensions flared after Prince Harry and Markle gave several interviews about private royal matters. Prince Harry also dragged his family along in his 2023 memoir, Spare.
Prince Charles was initially estranged from Prince Harry, but has recently made efforts to welcome his youngest son back into the fold.
Page Six has contacted representatives for Sussex and Kensington Palace.
