“The Hucks” star Robbie Hoffman has revealed that he has withdrawn from the 2025 Creative Arts Emmy Awards after losing to co-star Julianne Nicholson.
“I was there with my sister, and I was the biggest loser,” Hoffman recalled on Tuesday’s episode of the podcast “Bald and the Beautiful,” hosted by “Drag Race” star Trixie Mattel, who also attended last September’s ceremony.
“I lose easily,” Hoffman continued. “It’s our first time winning the award. I lost right away, but we woke up all over the world with great joy.”
Hoffman, who played Randy on the HBO Max series, was in the running for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series, but lost out to Nicholson, 54, for her performance as Mary “Dance Moms” Alice.
The comedian said he thought he could win the Emmy, even though he was up against “insane” talent like Olivia Colman and Zoe Kravitz.
“I’m really surprised we lost,” Hoffman admitted. “When I walk in, I’m already like, ‘Where am I going to put my Emmy?'” We quickly lost, and my sister kicked me out, saying, “We don’t need this.” she grabbed my arm. “That’s it.”
Ms. Hoffman said that when she returned backstage, Mr. Mattel, 36, comforted her and “considered” her results.
Despite his disappointment, Hoffman acknowledged that Nicholson was “above and beyond” deserving of an Emmy Award for his “amazing” performance.
Hoffman said he initially fled the ceremony, but had to return to his room due to contractual obligations.
“I had to give a presentation on the cinematography. I said, ‘No, I don’t want to do it anymore.'” They said, ‘No, it’s part of the program! ’” she explained.
“I was like, oh, my situation has changed, my situation has changed. I don’t feel well and they want me to read what’s on this teleprompter. I go, one thing I know is that I didn’t say anything they told me.”
But after enjoying some champagne, Hoffman regained his composure and took the stage to present the award for Outstanding Cinematography in a Series (30 Minutes) for “The Studio.”
Mattel praised Hoffman’s “refreshing” behavior at the Emmy Awards.
“You walked into the room like your whole family had been murdered,” the reality star said. “You were sitting on the couch, and I felt like you were in shock that you were actually upset that you didn’t win. You said to me, ‘I don’t think I cared, but now I’m upset that I lost.'”
Ms Hoffman said the result was “shocking” as she thought she was an Emmy contender as it seemed impossible to get nominated for Best Actress.
But Hoffman noted that dealing with the loss of “Hux” was made easier because he had already won an Emmy Award in 2019 for writing the children’s show “Odd Squad.”
“I can’t say anything is rigged,” Hoffman said. “I like to put off responsibility for a long time before saying, ‘Rob, has anyone done it better than you?'” All fair. ”
