A champion is worth more than a ring.
And with the Knicks breaking a 50-year drought and winning their first NBA championship since 1973, the entire city is turning blue and orange (with some glitter, of course).
Celebrity jeweler Alex Moss, an avid Knicks fan, created a diamond-encrusted pendant necklace “before Game 1” as a piece of art to commemorate the moment.
“I knew they were going to win. I knew they were going to win this thing. That’s why I made it,” he exclusively tells Page Six Style about the piece, which features 12.3 carats of VVS white diamonds set in yellow gold.
Moss posted the design on Instagram after his team clinched the championship against the San Antonio Spurs on Saturday. Then, at 7 a.m. the next morning, presumably still in the midst of the celebration, star player Josh Hart inquired about the piece.
Karl-Anthony Towns was the next person to reach out, securing matching necklaces for himself and fiancée Jordyn Woods. Both players showed off the shoes at the Knicks’ victory parade Thursday morning.
Moss’ New York-based factory and atelier was able to complete the order in time for Hart to wear the necklace on the team’s appearance on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” on Monday night.
The shooting guard was still wearing the dazzling diamond piece as he threw out the first pitch with Jalen Brunson at the Yankees-White Sox game Wednesday night.
Originally born in Toronto, Moss has lived in New York for over 12 years and has made all of her jewelry since beginning her career in the Big Apple.
“I think it’s important to embrace the people of this city who are doing great things for the city,” Moss, who was at the Garden for the stunning Game 4 win, told us.
“Everyone in the company, we live in New York. Imagine if someone like Jason from Beverly Hills was making Knicks stuff. It just doesn’t make sense.”
Knicks superfan Timothée Chalamet has also worn Moss jewelry in the past, wearing a nearly 25-carat diamond Saint Mark necklace while sitting courtside watching the Knicks advance to the playoffs.
Other celebrity fans of Moss products include Drake, Takashi Murakami, Hailey Bieber, and North West.
Moss describes her style as “very anti-establishment” and “very trashy” and calls herself the “Ferrari of jewelry.”
As for whether he will design a championship ring for the team? Only time will tell, but if Moss is contacted, he told us, “It will be something no one has seen before.”
