A gorgeous cast of voice actors has assembled for the new animation “Groove Tales” from “Twilight” producer Imprint Entertainment and “The Lego Ninjago Movie” writer/director Bob Logan.
The ensemble is led by Ansel Elgort (Baby Driver, The Fault in Our Stars), Harry Bailey (The Little Mermaid, The Color Purple), Ludacris (Fast and Furious, Crash), Alan Ritchson (Reacher, Warmachine), and JB Smoove (Curve Your Enthusiasm). “The Mapleworth Murders”), CeeLo Green (“Hotel Transylvania”), and international recording artist and actress Agnes Moe (“Reacher”).
Producers plan to introduce Groove Tales, based on Johnny Mack’s original screenplay, to buyers and the international animation community at the upcoming Annecy International Animation Film Festival.
Set in New York and billed as a “four-quadrant, music-driven animated film with dance throughout,” Groove Tales follows an enthusiastic young mouse with dreams of becoming a world-famous dancer. When his father dismisses his ambitions, he is sent on a journey with an unlikely group of misfits. According to the description, they must “discover their unique rhythm while fighting to protect the only place they’ve ever truly called home.”
“Groove Tales is a celebration of individuality, perseverance, and the universal language of music,” said Logan, an Emmy and Peabody Award winner whose screenwriting credits include “The Croods: A New Age.” “We’ve assembled a great cast who bring incredible energy, humor and heart to their characters. This is the kind of film that audiences of all ages can enjoy together.”
The film is produced by Oscar-winning producer Marian Garger (I Love You, Avatar) and Imprint Entertainment founder Michael Becker. Executive producers include Jeff Elliott, Mary Aloe, Gillian Hormel, Jeff Gumm, Graham Chan, and Ritchson.
“From the beginning, our goal was to create a film of the highest quality and perfection, fusing high-voltage magnetic entertainment with the emotional resonance of a classic family adventure,” said Garger and Becker.
“Groove Tales” is currently in production and the animation is scheduled to be completed in the fourth quarter of 2026.
