Viu and iQIYI International announced the integrated streaming subscription at the APOS conference on Wednesday, with the two platforms scheduled to jointly launch in Indonesia, Thailand, the Philippines, and Malaysia in the second half of 2026.
The announcement was made during APOS’s “Inside View: The Future of Streaming in Greater Southeast Asia” session, which featured Viu CEO Janice Lee and iQIYI International President Yang Xianghua. The deal is what Yang described as iQIYI International’s first cross-region streaming alliance. Financial terms were not disclosed.
This bundle pools two complementary libraries under one subscription. Viu offers Korean and Chinese dramas, Southeast Asian productions, and microdramas with Viu Originals and Viu Shorts, while iQIYI International offers premium Chinese and local originals, anime, variety shows, and its own microdramas slate. Content available at launch includes Viu Originals’ “The Season” and “Kidnap Game,” Korean dramas “Love In Sync” and “Dream To You,” and Viu Shorts’ titles “When Fish Swim to Land” and “I Became the Fake Heiress.” On the iQIYI International side, subscribers will have access to “Pursuit of Jade,” “Speed and Love,” the Thai original “Khemjira,” the Indonesian drama “The Other Sister,” the Malay drama “Griya,” the variety series “Running Man Thai,” and upcoming titles include “Key to the Phoenix Heart” and “Overdo.”
“We are thrilled to announce our partnership with iQIYI to produce the best and most engaging Asian content next year,” Mr. Lee said during the session.
Mr. Yang cited the complementary strengths of both platforms as the rationale for the partnership. “We share the same goals and values,” he said. He also pointed to the growth of iQIYI’s Thai original productions, noting that Chinese dramas currently generate the highest streaming traffic in Thailand, one of the platform’s fastest growing international markets.
Mr. Lee separately elaborated on the strategic rationale in a statement related to the announcement. “Asian content is at the heart of what our viewers like, and our collaboration with iQIYI International puts that at the forefront,” she said. “Bringing these two rich pieces of content together in one bundle will give viewers in Indonesia, Thailand, the Philippines and Malaysia even deeper access to the best storytelling from across the region.”
“With many years of deep exploration into the Southeast Asian market, iQIYI International has established a strong presence through our premium Chinese and local content,” Yang said in the same statement. “By combining highly complementary libraries into a unified subscription, we are offering local audiences a wide selection of content.”
This bundle will be available for purchase directly from both platforms’ websites. Content, features, and device compatibility will vary between the two services, with details to be announced in the future.
Viu, a division of PCCW Limited, is available in Asia, the Middle East and South Africa. iQIYI International, the global division of Chinese streaming giant iQIYI, operates in over 190 territories and 13 languages.
