New York Knicks reporter Monica McNutt boasted that her shady comments about Taylor Swift caused an “uproar.”
On Monday, McNutt reshared a video defending Knicks player Jalen Brunson’s disdain for Swift during an interview during Game 5 of the NBA Finals.
“King of New York, it’s okay here,” McNutt wrote on her Instagram Story along with the clip.
“You know I love a little commotion,” she added.
When McNutt, 36, interviewed Brunson, 29, after the Knicks won the NBA Finals on Saturday, the basketball player had a message for the Swifties, who have attacked the ESPN personality online.
“I just want to say to the Swifties, she’s a really good person,” Branson said.
“Give her some space,” the NBA champion added. “It’s okay, I promise.”
McNutt responded, “Thank you. I appreciate it.”
During Game 4 of the NBA Finals last Wednesday, McNutt was caught making some questionable comments about Swift, who was sitting courtside at Madison Square Garden with teammates Alana and Este Haim.
“She’s not a Knicks fan,” McNutt said. “Get out of here, girl.”
The next day, McNutt told TMZ that he “misspoke” about Swift’s Knicks fandom, but also pointed out that the “Opalite” singer hadn’t attended a Knicks home game all season.
“I didn’t see her here this year or last year,” McNutt said.
The sports analyst also mentioned that Swift attended a game between the Cleveland Cavaliers and Knicks last month with her fiancé, Travis Kelce, which caused controversy among New Yorkers.
“She didn’t have any Knicks paraphernalia,” McNutt pointed out. “So I didn’t know about her loyalty to the Knicks.”
When McNutt appeared on The Breakfast Club last Friday, she denied that race was a factor in her criticism of Swift.
“Right away people were like, ‘Oh, you’re a racist.’ No, I’m just stating a fact,” she explained. “But we have to live with that fact, and it makes others uncomfortable.”
Swift has owned a home in New York since 2014 and has shown support for the Knicks numerous times over the years.
She was one of the many A-listers who watched the Knicks defeat the Spurs 107-106 in Game 4 inside MSG, where she is rumored to be marrying Kelce over the July 4th weekend.
