They love him as much as they love the Knicks.
Jon Stewart also got a little love as Hoops fans flooded the city Saturday night to celebrate the team’s victory over the San Antonio Spurs.
Stewart and his wife Tracy reportedly stopped their car at a red light in front of Monster Bar in the West Village during the festivities, and euphoric fans seized the opportunity.
Chelsea’s mother, Abby Grozenski, ran to the car and thanked her for “everything you did!”
“You are a gem!” she exclaimed.
Grozenski said they had run into each other before and said, “I love you, and I’m so happy to see you again, because I almost told you that for the first time and I thought it was weird.”
When Tracy got up from the passenger seat, Stewart said, “That’s pretty weird.”
Another fan exclaimed, “Jon Stewart, I love you so much! The Knicks just won! You’re a mince!”
Stewart took a selfie through the window before the lights changed and the crowd chanted “Go Jon! Go Jon!” Then he started singing Queen’s “We Are the Champions.”
“Seeing him receive the flowers was a very happy moment,” Grozenski, founder of Woven Talent, told Page Six.
Meanwhile, Queen’s “Champions” wasn’t the only song fans sang to mark the occasion. Excited New Yorkers belted out Alicia Keys and Jay-Z’s “Empire State of Mind,” and the singer surprised guests with the real deal at Tribeca Festival’s official afterparty.
The singer performed hometown songs in front of a crowd that included Natasha Lyonne, Angela Simmons, Lena Waithe, Jane Rosenthal and Jay-Z’s former hip-hop nemesis Nas. Keys’ documentary Alicia Keys: Girl from Hell’s Kitchen closed the festival, and the party was held at the Capital, Keys’ homage to New York.
