This year marks the 25th anniversary of Tribeca Festival, the film and arts festival co-founded by Robert De Niro, Jane Rosenthal, and Craig Hatkoff to revitalize Lower Manhattan’s economy after the 9/11 attacks.
The festival, held in New York City from June 3 to 14, has expanded from its humble beginnings to include world premieres of movies like “The Avengers” and TV series like “The Handmaid’s Tale,” as well as live podcast recordings, commemorative screenings, musical performances, industry talks, and more.
The 2026 festival will feature a slew of exciting films from Oscar-winning filmmakers to directorial debuts featuring stars Aubrey Plaza, Oscar Isaac, Will Ferrell, Alicia Vikander and more. Check out these eight movies coming to Tribeca.
Earth, Wind and Fire (To Be Celestial VS That’s the Weight of the World)

The opening night film at this year’s festival is the long-awaited latest film from Oscar-winning director Questlove for “Summer of Soul.” A comprehensive look at Chicago’s legendary soul band Earth, Wind & Fire and its late founder Maurice White over the decades, this doc includes interviews with luminaries such as Barack Obama, Michelle Obama, Free, Lionel Richie, and more.

The feature directorial debut of comedian Zach Woods (Silicon Valley, The Office), the film is a family drama centered around a nine-year-old girl (Everly Carganilla) who is taken from the care of her demented grandfather by a new child welfare worker (Aubrey Plaza) and placed in the care of Sylvia (Susan Sarandon), an eccentric woman with a mysterious past who can unravel everything.

Written, directed, and starring Gabriel Basso, star of Netflix’s The Night Agent, this psychological thriller centers on Connor, a troubled man deeply obsessed with an online streamer named Nika (Courtney Eaton). He begins to tear apart, firing guns and molding himself into the alpha male he thinks she wants. A dark study of incel culture, Basso’s film also stars Kiernan Shipka, Lane Spencer, and Noah Centineo.

Oscar Isaac plays a dual role in the latest film from acclaimed artist and director Julian Schnabel (The Diving Bell and the Butterfly). Dante Alighieri, a 14th century poet, is working hard to write his masterpiece, the Divine Comedy. And contemporary writer Nick Tosh is ordered by the New York mafia to steal the handwritten manuscript of The Divine Comedy. Gal Gadot, Jason Momoa, Gerard Butler, Al Pacino and the incomparable Martin Scorsese round out Tribeca’s most star-studded filmography.

The documentary, directed by Josh Greenbaum (“Will & Harper”), explores how comedy legends such as “Saturday Night Live” have shaped political opinion with their parodies of presidents. The doc includes interviews with Will Ferrell, Kate McKinnon, Alec Baldwin, Dana Carvey, Maya Rudolph, and Keegan-Michael Key. The Tribeca premiere will include a post-screening talk with the film’s special guests.
The Man Will Burn

Filmmakers Jehane Nowjaim (The Square) and Vikram Gandhi (Barry) team up to explore Burning Man and its current identity crisis in this four-part documentary series. The team has managed to gain access to Desert Shadow’s leadership and festival of key players, so expect some surprising facts to be revealed. The first two parts will premiere at Tribeca and then air on HBO later this year.
