Lex Luthor isn’t fooling around in the Superman sequel.
With production on the Man of Tomorrow sequel underway, director James Gunn has given a first look at the villain’s iconic warsuit worn by star Nicholas Hoult.
“Fit check. Live from the set of ‘Man of Tomorrow,'” Gunn wrote in the caption.
In DC Comics, Lex Luthor created some super-powerful weaponized armor to go toe-to-toe with Superman. They give him superhuman strength, flight, force fields, and various other powers. Based on the photos, it looks like Rex won’t stay in prison for long and may travel to a sand planet in space.
Gunn will return to the director’s chair for the DC sequel, which will pit Hoult’s villain David Corenswet’s Man of Steel against intergalactic foe Brainiac (Lars Eidinger). In Man of Tomorrow, set for release on July 9, 2027, Superman is forced to team up with his greatest nemesis to take down a super-smart cyborg.
Stars returning for the sequel include Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen, Sara Sampaio as Eve Teschmacher, Isabella Merced as Hawkgirl, Green Lantern members Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner, and Eddie Gategi as Mr. Terrific. Millie Alcock, who had a cameo as Superman’s cousin Kara Zor-El, is set to return to Man of Tomorrow after headlining this summer’s DC blockbuster Supergirl. The sequel will see Aaron Pierre appear on screen as Green Lantern member John Stewart, who will make his debut on the HBO Max series “Lantern.”
