Rod Stewart canceled two shows in Las Vegas just hours before he was due to take the stage.
The 81-year-old rock legend was scheduled to perform at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace on May 29 and 30, but the event was canceled before the venue even opened.
A representative for Stewart told the Las Vegas Review: “Rod Stewart has unfortunately canceled his May 29th and May 30th performances at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas on the advice of his doctors, but he is scheduled to return to perform on June 2nd.”
An additional statement from Stewart himself read, “I would like to apologize to my family of fans. I am resting my voice while recovering from a sinus infection. I look forward to seeing you at my upcoming show at Caesars Palace or on tour this summer.”
FOX News Digital has reached out to Stewart for comment.
One X official said he received notice that the show had been canceled at 5:48 p.m., less than two hours before the scheduled 7:30 start time.
“I feel like the Colosseum is cursed,” another person commented.
Another wrote: “Anyway he needs to retire and enjoy the rest of his life in peace.”
However, Stewart made it clear that he has no plans to quit music.
After announcing his farewell tour in 2024, he made it clear that he would give up on any major touring and would not perform entirely.
“This is the end of my extensive world tour, but I have no intention of retiring,” he said in a statement on social media. “I love what I do and I do what I love.”
He went on to say, “I am healthy, have a full head of hair, and despite my cheerful old age of 79, can run 100 meters in 18 seconds.”
Last year, Stewart told AARP, “I keep myself very healthy. I’ve played soccer all my life, but I don’t play soccer as much anymore because I had knee replacement surgery. And I always have a trainer with me. It’s been the same person for 38 years.”
He told the outlet that he has a “huge” gym and indoor pool, explaining: “We do a lot of underwater training, and the trainer throws a brick into the pool and I have to jump in, push the brick to the edge of the pool and come back up.”
In addition to swimming, Stewart said he ran 100 meters on a private track.
“I learned how to push off and was able to reduce my time to 19 seconds,” the “Do Ya Think I’m Sexy” singer said. “I’ll try to run in the 17-second range. I think this is an 80-year-old world record.”
