Kelly Curtis, American actress and sister of Jamie Lee Curtis, died on Saturday. She was 69 years old.
Jamie Lee Curtis announced her sister’s death in a Facebook post. “Sending warm aloha to my sister Kelly Lee Curtis. She passed away this morning. Peacefully at home, in the lap of nature. She was my first friend and a lifelong best friend. She was jaw-droppingly beautiful and a talented actress. She was mean. She loved playing Heart Games, collecting turtles, family, nature, music, thrifting, traveling, Facebook, and Pokémon Go. She was proud of her Danish roots and Hungarian-Jewish ancestry, and was a devoted American Patriot. ”
“Her name will be remembered for her loving generosity, fierce opinions, boundless curiosity, unique style, and Christmas almond and crescent powder cookies. Kelly was always there to sign any message or say goodbye to you with a Hungarian blessing… Isten Veled, God be with you. Isten Veled, sister of the sun and moon, to my Thailand. See you soon.”
Kelly Curtis appeared with her sister in the 1983 comedy Trading Places. She also assisted on “Freaky Friday,” “Christmas With the Kranks,” and “You Again.”
Curtis appeared in the first season of UPN’s action series The Sentinel as Lt. Carolyn Plummer. She also had one-off roles on shows such as Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, The Equalizer, Hunters, Silk Stalkings, LateLine, and Judge Amy.
On the film side, Curtis starred in the 1987 comedy Magic Sticks and the 1990 television movie Thanksgiving Day, which also starred Mary Tyler Moore. Her other film credits include “False Arrest” and “The Sect.”
Curtis’ most recent work was as director of two documentaries. The first, 2018’s ‘Marby Jets Are Go’, chronicled the ups and downs of the Australian high school track and field team. For the second time in 2019, Curling in Stanley featured footage from the first-ever curling tournament, the Sawtooth Outdoor Bonspiel, held in Stanley, Idaho.
Born in Santa Monica in 1956, Curtis made her screen debut in the 1958 action-adventure film Vikings, starring her parents Tony Curtis and Janet Leigh.
