That’s right, Jason Lewis is a writer.
A week after appearing on Instagram for the first time in three years, the “Sex and the City” alum, 54, revealed that she moved to Costa Rica and has written a nine-book fantasy series.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter on Thursday, Lewis revealed that he was surfing in Central America, studying Spanish and sometimes waking up at 4 a.m. to work on the trilogy.
“I do what I have to do, walk on the beach or run on the beach if the waves aren’t good yet, then have a coffee and settle down at my desk to do a session,” he elaborated.
After breakfast, he returns to his desk and strives to put “1,000 to 2,000 words on the page a day.”
The books are all “set in the same world in different time periods” and the “Sex and the City 2” star will be the first to release his seventh book.
“I decided to start at the end,” Lewis told the outlet, noting that his novel belongs to the “epic fantasy” genre.
The actor said his return to social media was at the request of his agent, but he didn’t want to “get lost in the idea of performing posts.”
“I really like building a community, and not just being on the air and saying, ‘Hey, check me out. I’m amazing, right?'” Lewis said.
But writers know they need to get more readers interested in their books, so they put “a lot of thought” into their initial posts.
On May 21, Lewis uploaded a video of herself walking on the beach to social media platforms.
He cryptically explained to his followers why “it’s finally time” to return to the app.
“I shut up,” Lewis admitted. “Not because I had nothing to say, but because I had something to do.”
“The kind of creative work where there’s no room for anything else, and I agreed to that. That said, it’s the kind of work where you need to find people.”
At the time, Lewis did not involve fans in his writing, but said that the project had “been so far along that I felt it was time to resurface and share what I’ve been doing.”
The former model captioned her post: “After 3 years, the time has come.”
Lewis left the public eye after competing on Season 31 of Dancing with the Stars in 2022.
He and his dance partner Peta Murgatroyd were the first pair to be eliminated.
Lewis credits his fiancée, actress Liz Godwin, with convincing him to try out for the ABC show.
“When the offer came this year, my fiancé told me to be a little more outside-the-box and at least watch the show,” he told People at the time.
Lewis first gained popularity playing Smith Jerrod, the young model boyfriend of Samantha Jones (Kim Cattrall), on Sex and the City from 2003 to 2004.
She then appeared in the film Sex and the City in 2008 and its sequel in 2010.
Despite being popular with fans, Lewis, whose last acting role was in 2018’s Midnight, Texas, was not asked to appear in the show’s reboot series, And Just Like That.
“I appreciate the compliment, but the conversation is about the girls,” Lewis told Daily Front Row at the time.
