“Blue’s Cruise” star Steve Burns has signed an all-discipline representation contract with UTA.
Burns served as the original host of the children’s TV series from 1996 to 2002, making it one of the most famous children’s series of the 1990s and 2000s.
He reprized the role, a fictionalized version of himself, in the 2019 reboot of Blue’s Cruise and You! as a recurring character and mentor to the franchise’s new host, Josh Dela Cruz. Burns also served as a key creative force behind the scenes, writing and directing several episodes of the show through 2024.
Burns returned to the spotlight in 2021 after a pandemic-era video message to fans commemorating the 25th anniversary of “Blue’s Cruise” went viral. In the tear-jerking clip, Burns explained his sudden exit from the show and congratulated his loyal, now-adult viewers. “Look at everything you’ve done and everything you’ve accomplished,” Burns said. “I mean, we started with a clue, but now what? Student loans, work, family? And some of that can be a little tough, right? I get it.”
Burns currently hosts the podcast Alive With Steve Burns, where he engages in thoughtful conversations about curiosity and what it means to be alive. He was nominated for an Ambie Award for Best Podcast Host for his work on the show.
In August, Burns will take to the stage for the world premiere of his solo show Steve Burns: Alive, which opens at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.
