“Summer House” alumnus Stephen McGee says that because of him, “the world has a Paige DeSorbo.”
“I love Paige DeSorbo. In fact, the first time I met Paige, we were in Capri, Italy, and we happened to be sitting next to each other at a restaurant,” the reality TV alum exclusively told Page Six’s “Virtual Reality” at Tuesday’s “Summer House” reunion watch party.
“But she doesn’t really know this – I don’t think so – I’m the reason there’s a Paige DeSorbo in the world.”
Maggie went on to reveal that Season 3’s Summer House cast was originally intended to include two girls, but they ultimately thwarted the plan.
“Another Bravo star who was on Million Dollar Listing and works in real estate told me they were coming from The Office for Season 3. So I did a little background research and discovered that they were doing some pro-Donald Trump stuff, so I leaked it on the Girls With No Jobs Facebook group.”
“They left before filming started. Then they added Paige Desorbo.”
Although Maggie left the Bravo show after season 2, DeSorbo shot to fame when he appeared on season 3 of Summerhouse with his girlfriend and other half of the podcast The Giggly Squad, Hannah Berner.
Varner left the series after two seasons due to various disagreements with other cast members. However, DeSorbo quickly rose through the ranks and became a fan favorite.
She shared an emotional statement through her Instagram Stories, announcing her departure from ‘Summer House’ in June 2025.
“Being part of this show has been one of the most rewarding chapters of my life. The friendships, the drama, the laughs. It’s all unforgettable,” she wrote at the time.
“I couldn’t have imagined what this journey would be like and how many people would be on it with me. And you haven’t seen the last of me, I promise. We have a lot to do together, but for now, I know you can always find me and Daphne in my bed,” she concluded, referring to her cat.
Later in September, she told Ms Birdy that she had confessed to leaving the ‘summer house’ because she had an ‘overwhelming sense that I could never return’.
“I know I was doing[the show]a disservice. They expect a certain level of appearance and I couldn’t give them that,” she told the outlet in a joint interview with Varner.
“When you’re on a reality show, there’s a level of brainwashing, which is a harsh word. That’s not real life,” she admitted. “You don’t stop someone on the street and say, ‘I thought you didn’t like my boyfriend.'”
