Prince Harry watched Saturday’s game between the New York Knicks and San Antonio Spurs from a few rows back, while a number of celebrities sat courtside.
Timothée Chalamet and Ben Stiller, among others, were front and center among the A-listers in the celebrity row at Frostbank Center in San Antonio, Texas, for Game 5 of the NBA Finals.
The Duke of Sussex was seated in the eighth row of the Texas venue wearing a navy polo shirt, navy slacks and a baseball cap.
The 41-year-old’s surprise outing without wife Meghan Markle came just hours after the couple missed the royal family’s Trooping the Color celebrations in London.
Although Prince Harry and Markle are no longer members of the royal family, they have not attended the event since 2022.
The couple immigrated to the United States from the UK in 2020 and live in Montecito, California with their two children, Prince Archie, 7, and Princess Lilibet, 5.
Neither child participated in this weekend’s game.
Instead, Harry competed against JP Lane, a US Army veteran and Purple Heart Warrior Games athlete.
The motivational speaker plans to compete in his first Invictus Games next summer.
Mr Harry wasn’t the only celebrity to be demoted further down the queue on Saturday night.
Other famous faces rejected from celebrity controversy include “Euphoria” star Sidney Sweeney and boyfriend Scooter Braun, and actor Billy Baldwin.
It remains unclear which team Prince Harry was rooting for, as the former military pilot has not revealed his allegiance to an NBA team over the years.
He has attended two games with Markle, 44, in the past, including a kiss-cam moment at the All-Star Game in February.
Their first NBA date was in April 2023 at a Los Angeles Lakers playoff game against the Memphis Grizzlies.
