Creative Artists Agency’s 11th annual CAA Möbius Showcase is a two-day screening series of undergraduate and graduate student filmmakers, running from May 27th to May 28th.
Accompanying this year’s showcase will also be the launch of Mobius Labs, a series of workshops and moderated conversations designed to give participating filmmakers access to creators, producers and executives working in film and television. The showcase will also feature filmmaker Max Barbakow and soon-to-be-announced Academy Award-winning writer and director, who will each serve as hosts for the night of the showcase and deliver opening remarks. Barbakow will return to host on the first night.
This year’s showcase features work from undergraduate and graduate film programs across the country and includes 10 short live-action films selected from a wide range of genres, tones, and perspectives.
The brainchild of CAA Pictures agents Christina Chow, Zach Kaplan, and Pete Stein with Lindsey Park, the showcase is organized by a cross-agency team of up-and-coming leaders including Derick Davidian, Emily Leff, John O’Shea, Katie Needham, Laila Gaucher, Milo Pepper, Ryan Uriah, Sammy Johnson, Seth Parker, Walter Safran, and CAA alumnus Chloe Landau. “Over the past 11 years, Mobius has continued to grow with the filmmakers who have participated in this program,” Chou, Kaplan and Stein said in a joint statement. “With the introduction of Mobius Labs, we wanted to create a more direct interaction between up-and-coming filmmakers and established creators working at the highest levels of the industry. This year’s lineup reflects an incredibly wide range of voices, ambitions and cinematic perspectives, and we’re proud to continue building a platform that supports the next generation of storytellers.”
