Britney Spears admitted to taking multiple prescription drugs before her DUI arrest, according to a police report obtained by Page Six.
The 44-year-old pop star was arrested on March 4 after authorities saw her weaving in and out of lanes. The officer said in a police report that he asked Spears if she had taken any drugs or narcotics before driving, and that she said she had taken 200 mg of Lamictal, a prescription drug used as a mood stabilizer in adults with bipolar disorder, as well as 40 mg of the antidepressant Prozac and 2.5 mg of Adderall, an ADHD medication.
Officers said they found a bottle of pills labeled “Adderall” in Spears’ purse that had not been prescribed to her.
“They also noticed an empty wine glass in the cup holder between the driver and passenger seats,” the police report said.
Spears, who was handcuffed at around 9:28 p.m. local time, was asked if she had been drinking before driving, saying she had had a mimosa “around 2 p.m.” and that her last meal was ice cream at 3 p.m.
Officers wrote that when they asked Spears to rate her current level of intoxication on a scale of 0 to 10, she answered “zero” and bragged about her tolerance level.
“Four bottles of wine will take care of you. I’m an angel,” she replied.
Officers observed that Spears had “severe mood swings” throughout the encounter.
“Her mood changed from confrontational and agitated to flamboyant and submissive,” they said. “She also seemed to speak with a British accent at times.”
The officer said that while speaking with the “Toxic” singer, he “could smell the distinct odor of alcoholic beverages emanating from her breath” and that her eyes were “red and watery.”
“Her speech was rapid and slurred, her gait was unsteady, and she fidgeted with her fingers,” the police report states.
Before being arrested and charged with drunk driving, Spears drove multiple vehicles “aggressively” and nearly caused them to “slide”.
“We’re reporting an erratic driver,” one caller said in a 911 call obtained exclusively by Page Six Thursday. “They drive a BMW.”
The caller added that the BMW was seen “weaving in and out of lanes” and “braking erratically.”
Spears entered rehab on April 12 for substance abuse and was released less than a month later.
“She’s doing great,” a source told Page Six last month about Spears after rehab.
“She is healthy, happy, very positive and excited to start fresh. Rehab was a great opportunity for her to ground herself.”
