Starmer’s home while watching Eurovision is invaded by rivals

In the cold opening of Saturday Night Live UK’s season finale on May 16, the British prime minister’s mansion was broken into by his party rivals and former residents.

It begins with former Health Secretary Wes Streeting (played by Jack Shepp) being shown around 10 Downing Street by an estate agent. Their conversation was interrupted when former Conservative prime minister Liz Truss popped out of the cupboard and said: “Please give me another chance.”

Mr Streeting added: “It’s a wonderful property. There must be some pitfalls.” To which the real estate agent replied, “Well, there’s a little catch. If you lived here, everyone in the country would hate you.” “That’s fine,” said Mr. Street. “I don’t have any feelings.”

They are joined by the Mayor of Greater Manchester, Andy Burnham (Paddy Young). “For outsiders, for disruptors, it’s time for a change,” Burnham said. Mr Streeting responded: “Weren’t you an MP for 16 years? You voted for the Iraq war.”

Next to arrive was Angela Reiner (Celeste Dring), a former deputy prime minister before resigning for failing to pay property tax, known as stamp duty. She asked, “How much do you think the stamp duty is in a place like this? Do I have to pay it?”

As they are discussing, Prime Minister Keir Starmer (George Fouracres) comes down the stairs wearing a red nightgown and complains about the noise. He says he’s watching “Eurovision.” “It’s the only show I still enjoy. Every time I turn on the news, all I see is a sad version of me. ‘Eurovision’ is the only show left with integrity. I love how they stood up after Russia invaded Ukraine. And I love the great songs that Israel sang,” he said.

Eventually he loses his cool. “You know, everyone please stand down, because as far as I’m concerned, I’m still the Prime Minister and I’ll continue to be the Prime Minister for at least the next 75 minutes.”

Episode 8 was hosted by ‘Doctor Who’ star Ncuti Gatwa, and indie-pop singer-songwriter Holly Humberstone was the musical guest.
