In a recent interview with the London Times, Bob Odenkirk reflected on suffering a heart attack on the set of the hit drama series Better Call Saul in 2021.
“When I got down, Leah (Seehorn) and Patrick (Fabian) were grabbing me and screaming, and (the crew members noticed) they thought they were laughing,” Odenkirk said. “We were all far away from each other, so there was a delay in responding. I was gone, gray haired. Eventually the doctor on scene showed up, but he didn’t know what to do. He had never done CPR.”
“A lot of people either get great film of their lives or say, ‘Do you want to go back?'” he added. “For me, that didn’t happen. The first thing I remember is arriving at the hospital and being discharged a week later.”
Despite her fear, Odenkirk said she now has a better understanding of her life after the incident. He called his recovery period “such an incredible gift,” adding, “I felt really, really happy and hooked.”
In July 2021, Odenkirk, then 58, collapsed while filming a Season 6 episode of Better Call Saul. The London Times reported that the heart attack was caused by “a buildup of plaque clogging the arteries.” Since then, Odenkirk has “cut down on sugar, taken statins, aspirin, and metoprolol, a beta-blocker that lowers blood pressure.”
Days after his heart attack, Odenkirk took to social media to thank his fans for their overwhelming support.
He wrote to X, then called out on Twitter, “Hello, this is Bob. Thank you. To all my family and friends who have surrounded me this week. And thank you for the outpouring of love from everyone who has expressed their concern and concern for me. I’m overwhelmed. But I feel the love. It means so much.”
