Blake Lively suffers blow as judge rejects latest request in Justin Baldoni’s legal battle

Blake Lively has been told to ease her ongoing efforts to recover attorney fees and damages related to the dismissal of Justin Baldoni’s lawsuit against her.

According to TMZ, the federal judge overseeing the “It Ends With Us” duo’s never-ending legal battle has denied Lively’s request for additional briefs and other information regarding Baldoni’s $400 million countersuit.

The paper said the exhausted judge told the “Gossip Girl” alum that for the time being, he didn’t need any additional information before making a decision on the case.

Representatives for Lively and Baldoni did not immediately respond to Page Six’s requests for comment.

The “It Ends With Us” co-stars reached a surprising settlement last Monday in a lawsuit Lively filed against Baldoni, 42, in December 2024.

However, Lively is still seeking attorney fees and damages from the director’s failed January 2025 countersuit.

The 38-year-old “A Simple Favor” star previously claimed she is owed fees and damages under a California law enacted in 2023 to protect sexual abuse accusers from retaliation claims.

A judge dismissed Baldoni’s counterclaim in June 2025, but did not rule on whether the 2023 law applied.

Baldoni’s team opposed Lively’s October 2025 motion, arguing that the actress’ filing violated her constitutional right to petition the court.

The director team behind “It Ends with Us” also argued that California law should not apply because the sexual harassment allegations would have occurred in New Jersey, where the majority of the 2024 film was filmed.

The surprising settlement comes just days before the case’s scheduled trial on May 18 and just weeks after a judge dismissed 10 of Lively’s 13 claims.

Lively also attended this year’s Met Gala shortly after the settlement was announced.

“The final film, ‘It Ends with Us,’ is a source of pride for all of us who worked to make this film a reality,” the parties said in a joint statement to Page Six.

“Raising awareness and having a meaningful impact on the lives of domestic violence survivors, and all survivors, is a goal we support,” they added.

Page Six has learned that even though Lively and Baldoni spent a total of $60 million during their 18-month legal battle, not a dime went into the agreed-upon settlement.

Meanwhile, both sides claimed victory after a grueling and costly legal battle.

Baldoni’s attorney, Brian Friedman, called the settlement a “huge victory” in an interview with TMZ Live last Tuesday. Lively also claimed that she settled the case because she was “scared” to testify at trial.

“It was an unbelievable opportunity. I don’t think I could let an unbelievable opportunity pass me by,” he told the outlet.

Following Friedman’s remarks, Lively’s team called the settlement a “huge victory” for the “Another Simple Favor” star.

“By acknowledging that Ms. Lively’s concerns were ‘worthy of being heard,’ defendants put an end once and for all to the fiction that Ms. Lively had ‘fabricated’ her claims of sexual harassment and retaliation,” she told Page Six last Thursday.
