Variety reports that Netflix has ordered an adult animated series titled “Dad’s House.”
The show is created by showrunners and executive producers Michael Cusack (Smiling Friends, YOLO), Dario Russo (Danger 5, The Italian Spider-Man, The Fox), and David Ashby (Danger 5, The Italian Spider-Man). All three are also part of the series’ voice cast, along with Felicity Ward (The Office, Wakefield, The Inbetweeners 2).
The show’s logline reads: “In a small Australian suburban town, Sean, a 13-year-old divorced kid, spends every other weekend with his laid-back but well-meaning father, Ian. Cramming quality father time into just one weekend is already a difficult task. But Ian has an uncanny ability to make it even harder than it has to be.”
Princess Pictures and Bent Box Entertainment will produce the show. Mr. Cusack is repped by UTA and JSSK. Russo is repped by UTA. Ashby is repped by UTA.
Cusack is the creator of the Australian series YOLO and co-creator of Smiling Friends. Both shows aired on Adult Swim in the US, with “YOLO” running for three seasons and “Smiling Friends” running for three seasons and three short films.
Netflix’s current adult anime slate includes the upcoming series “Mating Season,” also produced by the same team behind the Netflix series “Big Mouth.” Netflix currently also streams shows such as DANG!, Alley Cats, and Haunted Hotel. Last year, Netflix launched the series “Long Story Shorts” from “BoJack Horseman” creator Raphael Bob-Waksberg, which was renewed for a second season ahead of the series’ premiere.
