Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgwick will be honored at the Museum of the Moving Image’s Film Awards, MoMI board co-chairs Michael Barker and Ivan L. Lustig announced Wednesday. Adam Aron, chairman and CEO of AMC Entertainment, will also receive the film industry tribute honor at the annual event on June 10 at the museum in Astoria, Queens, New York.

As directors and actors, Bacon and Sedgwick will be honored for their lasting contributions to American cinema. Bacon has appeared in films such as Footloose, Mystic River, and Crazy Stupid Love, while Sedgwick has appeared in films such as Independence Day, Mr. and Mrs. Bridge, Singles, and The Edge of Seventeen.

“We look forward to honoring Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgwick at the 40th Annual Film Awards,” Lustig said. “Not only are they remarkable for the diversity and longevity of their respective careers, but they also teamed up to make films as a family, combining their talents as actors, directors, screenwriters, producers and musicians.”

The company said Aaron’s memorial honors the executive’s “tireless efforts to improve the moviegoing experience in theaters.” Aaron, who has served as CEO since 2016, helped transform the movie theater chain into one of the largest in the United States and the world. AMC serves more than 250 million guests annually in 1,000 theaters.

“We are a museum dedicated to all aspects of film. We value the collaborative moviegoing experience,” Barker said. “There is no better time than now to honor Adam Aaron’s leadership at AMC Entertainment. He sustained and revitalized moviegoing for audiences around the world. At a time when theatrical distribution faced serious challenges, he helped lead the company back to strength.”

The evening will include a cocktail reception in the Sumner M. Redstone Theater, an awards ceremony, and a sit-down dinner in the Hearst Lobby, where honorees will be joined by friends, colleagues, industry decision makers, patrons, and special guest presenters.

“We would like to thank Adam Aaron, Kevin Bacon and Kyla Sedgwick for allowing us to honor them at the museum at a time when we are experiencing incredible growth and exciting new developments are on the horizon,” said MoMI Executive Director Aziz Isham. “Funds raised at the gala will be used to support all activities for our more than 300,000 annual visitors, from our acclaimed screening series to our educational programs that attract more than 70,000 students annually.”
