We’re in love with the shape…Ed Sheeran’s new hairline?
The “Shivers” singer debuted a shocking shaved head on Tuesday in a “Life Update Dumpington” Instagram post.
“Yes, I shaved my hair. I wanted it to signify a new start,” Sheeran, 35, explained in the caption. “There are a lot of new beginnings in my life (at the moment).”
He added that he personally “loves” the activity and “plans to keep it that way.”
Elsewhere in the post, Sheeran, who is known for his messy ginger hair, which is often cut to medium length, revealed that he has been suffering from shingles “for the last month.”
“I don’t recommend it, but I’m on the mend now,” he reassured his followers, with many praising his shaved head in the comments section.
The four-time Grammy Award winner is on hiatus during his ongoing Loop tour, which begins in January and continues around the world through December.
“I can’t wait to do this song again,” he said of returning to the stage. “Let’s meet some nice people.”
But this is certainly not the first time Sheeran has surprised fans with a new look.
Back in December, the “Thinking Out Loud” singer showed off his impressive transformation by losing 30 pounds on the cover of Men’s Health UK.
Sheeran posed shirtless for the publication, showing off his ripped abs and revealing he embarked on a fitness journey for his family.
The musician, who has daughters Lyla, five, and Jupiter, three, with wife Cherry Seaborn, said a “consistent” workout routine and cutting back on alcohol intake had helped him improve his fitness.
“I wanted to be a responsible father and feel good at the same time,” he explained.
At the time, Sheeran admitted he was “worried” about how fans would react to the magazine cover.
“I’m a relatable guy, and I thought, ‘Shit, is it weird that I’m super healthy on the cover of Men’s Health?'” he said, adding that he made the decision in hopes of inspiring others to achieve their goals.
Sheeran previously revealed that he lost 50 pounds and quit smoking in 2019.
