Ten years later, Beyoncé reinvented her iconic “revenge dress.”
Ten years after “Lemonade,” the singer celebrated the milestone anniversary of her sixth studio album with family and friends in Beverly Hills. While paying homage to the past, it also had the potential to tease future music.
On Sunday night, Beyoncé shared a carousel of captionless images to Instagram, wowing everyone in a voluminous purple Saint Laurent dress.
The ruffled confection boasts oversized puffed shoulders that give way to cascading sleeves, and her curly hair mimics the shape of the dress as it cascades down her back.
In one photo, Bey let her neckline drop below her bust, revealing a matching purple lace bra.
It’s reminiscent of Robert Cavalli’s tiered yellow dress and the same crimped hair she paired with a Louisville Slugger emblazoned with the word “hot sauce” in her September 2016 “Hold Up” music video.
She accessorized with pleated satin slingback heels, a large pearl Cult Gaia orb bag ($498), and a Julietta pearl drop necklace ($287).
Last weekend, Beyoncé celebrated the “Lemonade” diamond anniversary with a more casual social media post, standing in the middle of an empty beach with a bottle of Sir Davis Whiskey in one hand and three lemons in the other.
“Cheers to our 10th anniversary! With love and deep gratitude 🙏🏽🍋🐝,” she wrote.
She also shared photos of her food from the evening, and a matching purple phone case was also visible, leading fans to believe that the color palette could be key.
“She’s from Prince,” one fan commented, while another echoed, “Yo Mrs. Purple Rain!”
There has been speculation that the third installment of her trilogy of albums, which includes 2022’s disco song “Renaissance” and 2024’s country song “Cowboy Carter,” will be in the rock genre and heavily influenced by Prince.
Whether or not more music is imminent, Bey is ready to make a big statement on the red carpet.
The singer is scheduled to appear as co-host of the 2026 Met Gala on May 6, marking her first appearance at the annual event since 2016.
Is the timing a coincidence? We’ll have to wait and see.
